Castro Marim (Golfe Clube) This project brought solar power to a commercial setting: the Castro Marim Golf Clube resort, in the eastern Algarve. The system uses 14 Sharp 370W panels, giving a total installed capacity of just over 5kW, paired with a KOSTAL Plenticore Plus 5.5 hybrid inverter.
The Plenticore Plus is one of the more versatile inverters on the market for this kind of installation. It’s hybrid by design, meaning it’s ready for battery storage down the line even if the system starts out grid-tied, which makes it a practical choice for a commercial property that may want to expand its setup later without replacing core equipment. It also comes with built-in monitoring, so the resort can track generation and consumption directly.
On a good day, the system reaches around 5kW of output per hour and up to 40kW total, translating into approximately €10 in daily savings on the electricity bill. As with any solar installation, actual output shifts with the weather, shading, and how the panels are oriented relative to the sun, and savings depend on local electricity pricing, but the numbers give a solid baseline for what this setup delivers.
For a resort property, where energy consumption tends to be steady and predictable, solar is a particularly good fit: it offsets a real, recurring cost rather than sitting idle. It’s another example of how solar makes sense beyond residential homes, for businesses and commercial properties across the Algarve looking to cut running costs.
